Domenico Poutanen
Developer, Designer and all round great guy!
I've taken the liberty of learning and experimenting with User Experience to further improve my understanding of how customers use software. Bellow are the name and synopsis of some highlights. If you would like to know more about these project chuck me an email. Details are located at the bottom of the screen.
by far my most prized project. ARTEMIS was taken into a special topics course. Which included the further development of ARTEMIS. This project was also nominated for the best non thesis awards for 2017.
We were task in building a website that would produce live data using photon particles. A device placed within the UQ glasshouse systems will produced data based on moisture and light.
The Queensland Government Herbarium team requested the university to upgrade their system for mining rehabilitation. I was apart of the team that designed the software for this task.
Within my degree I wasn't only taught how to develop within an agile framework. Multiple courses had assignments based on developing my own theoretical agile spaces. This included learning the history of software methods between waterfall to agile.
Travel Pack was the first real application I developed on a mobile. Although the testing periods we were conducting, were testing for incorrect ideologies that didn't help the app at all. I learned from this project the most.
Every semester we had to learn the importance of prototyping, whether it being low or high fidelity. Including digital and physical systems, we were all task to obtain data that gave us insight on how to improve products.
Coding has always been my strong point when implementing systems. Although my degree states I majored in Software “Design”, which mostly outlines software process design, I excel in the technical \ side of software. Bellow are only some of the projects I’ve been apart of.
Data Divr is a virtual reality project that focuses on users interacting with live data within the virtual world. This allowed me to develop a program that uses the HTC Vive.
During my career I've have been involved in implementing software that inserts and manipulates Big Data (100,000 inserts per minute). Which would be used for payments and billing.
I have learned and practiced how to optimize and improve code within the high performance computing space. Even though cloud computing has eased this pain.
Overall programming has been one of my talents semi outside of my degree. I'm strong in React and C#. However I have used all common programming languages.
ARTEMIS sparked my interest into physical computing. The core concept of creating physical systems that spark ideas or reaction from users within the wild, is just interesting to me.
Learning how to program systems within a large group and repositing is super important. These practices are etched into my mind.
As a part time listener, most conversations I’ve had were about how unhappy or frustrated people are within their workplace. This usually boils down to bad processes or upper management pressure. I'll try to take away any painful experience using my skills as a developer and comedian(self diagnosed). Ever since I was a kid I’ve enjoyed helping out others. Even though this sounds like a phrase that everyone says during an interview. I have examples of taking the initiative of team building and reflection sessions. Bellow are some interactive examples of how I'm trying to make your experience as a profile viewer better.
Abnormal coding behaviours are super interesting. Like how words gets transformed into color on a browser. Try out your name!
